Prepare A Wedding Survival Kit For The Big Day

When your big day rolls around, you make list after list just so that you are prepared for the ceremony, the reception, seeing all your friends and family, and saying "I do." You have already done all that is necessary before the big day, but now that today is the day, you have to be prepared for anything. Being prepared is the priority for any bride, because sometimes, the wedding day doesn't go as perfectly as we've planned. Make sure to keep these items handy to be ready for anything on your big day.

Safety Pins and Scissors

It's a good idea to keep a few sewing items on hand the day of your wedding. Scissors can be useful if there is a string hanging from a hem or a pesky hanger strap that seems to want to come out. Safety pins are always useful, and a needle and thread are a must, just in case.

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Your mouth will be doing a lot of talking, and you may get a bit nervous. Dry mouth can bring on some pretty rank breath. Also, you never want to have any leftover garlic breath from lunch when you are walking down the aisle. Keep dental floss, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash on hand to use before the ceremony. If possible, you may want to use them again right before the reception.

Mints

If you need a little refresher throughout the reception, it is best to keep mints on hand. Sometimes when people are nervous, they tend to smack or chomp gum, but mints will do the job and then disappear.

Healthy Snacks

Sometimes when you're nervous or you're rushing around, you can forget to eat. If you see that the morning of your wedding is going to be super-hectic as you're dealing with hair appointments, makeup appointments, pictures, and the ceremony, you should pack a few healthy snacks, just in case. You will need some protein to keep your energy up. Protein bars, nuts, fruits, and veggies are great to have on hand when you need a little pick-me-up during your preparations.

Pocket Tissues

You never know what is going to get the waterworks going on an emotional day like your wedding day. Whether you are hugging your grandma, dancing with your dad, or just saying "I do," you are most likely going to need to blot (never wipe) some tears away on your special day.

Double-Sided Tape

Sometimes, the dress that you chose for your bridesmaids may not fit everyone the same. You want your girls to be able to dance like there's no tomorrow, so a bit of double-sided tape will allow them (and you) to boogie the night away without any inhibitions.

Deodorant

It's important to use a good, reliable deodorant on your wedding day. One that lasts all day is best. You also want a strong one that will combat the nervous sweats that you may get right before you walk down the aisle. Another important thing to remember is that if your armpits are exposed and you are hugging people all day, you will need a deodorant that won't leave white marks on dark clothing.

Tweezers

There's no need to elaborate on this one. You may find a stray hair that could be embarrassing, whether it's on the eyebrows, upper lip, or chin.

Nail Kit

You've spent a fortune on the perfect manicure, but you are bound to mess something up the morning of your wedding. Keep a nail file on hand, just in case you break a nail. Keep your polish on hand to do any last-minute touch-ups as well. Clear polish is a good idea to keep on hand for things other than your nails as well.

Oil-Blotters

Before you powder your nose between pictures, be sure to use oil-blotting papers. This will remove any excess oil on your T-zone without messing up your makeup.

Stain-Remover Pen

You never know when you'll accidentally get a lipstick stain or something worse on your gown. A dropped mascara wand can do damage to your beautiful white gown, and there isn't much you can do about it. Stain-remover pens can remove the stain without leaving a messy wet mark on your dress.

Band-Aids

You never know when you'll need one, but more importantly, you never know when your new shoes may start to give you a blister. Keep Band-Aids handy just in case you need to line your feet with them in order to not spend the day in pain.

Great Makeup

This is one of the most important days of your life. You don't want to spend it with makeup running down your face. Use makeup that will stay put for the whole day. Don't forget waterproof mascara, a lip gloss that won't need to be reapplied every 20 minutes, and a foundation that won't melt while you're dancing your heart out.

Slippers/Flats

Chances are decent that that the shoes that you walk down the aisle wearing won't do you any good at 11:30, when you've been dancing with your girls and your new hubby for four straight hours. Slippers are a great idea before the wedding and while you get ready. Flats are a great idea when you have let loose and just want to have a good time.

Hair Spray and Bobby Pins

You never know when you are going to need to put everything back in place. Hopefully there isn't a hurricane outside your reception. But if there is, you'll be ready to make everything pretty again as long as you have the tools to fix your 'do.
