In Honor of Our Veterans: Kicking Our Veteran's Day Jewelry Sale Off Right
Veteran’s Day 2020 is almost here. A lot of people will be firing up the grill, kicking back for the weekend, or even doing some shopping. Before we dive into some of our amazing Veteran’s Day jewelry sales, let’s backtrack a little in the spirit of the day. It's always important to consider our roots, and why a holiday, such as Veteran's Day, has become so critical to us.
What Is Veteran’s Day?
While ‘The Great War’ or World War I didn’t officially end until June 28, 1919, when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, fighting had stopped much earlier. An armistice, or temporary halt to the fighting, activated on November 11, 1918, and many see that as the true end to the war.
President Wilson, in 1919, declared the day as a commemoration or observance in honor of both the troops and the American people for all they had endured.
"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations."
Over time, the holiday was revised to be what it is today. Changes were made both regarding its observance and how it was handled. The biggest change came in June 1968, with the passing of The Uniform Holiday Bill. It declared four national holidays, including Veteran’s Day, to offer three-day weekends to Federal employees. The other holidays included Memorial Day, George Washington’s Birthday, and Columbus Day.
Today, the holiday is a time to honor our American veterans for their heroic acts of patriotism, the many sacrifices they have made, and for their love of country.

Thank You for All That You Do
Barbecues, days off, and big sales are fun, but we must not forget the true reason the holiday exists.
Getting back to the main message for a moment, we want to share our appreciation for all of the veterans out there. Thank you very much for all that you have done, are doing, and will do for us and this country. It’s easy to lose sight of our roots in today’s tumultuous political climate. However, we should never forget that our country was founded on honor, dignity, and bravery.
Every day our veterans are the ones who truly embody these characteristics, and they will forever be heroes for it.
Thank you, veterans.
